Big Data Engineer (Python)
We are seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer to join our team and play a key role in optimizing and enhancing our data processing infrastructure. This role involves close collaboration with Data Scientists to refine data workflows and implement scalable PySpark solutions for processing large datasets. As a Big Data Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and maintainability of our data pipelines, contributing to impactful insights across teams.
In this position, you’ll work with advanced data structures, leveraging Python and PySpark for efficient data handling. Experience with front-end technologies like Flask and Streamlit is a plus, providing opportunities to enhance user interfaces and dashboards.
Essential functions
- Refactor and enhance our existing Python codebase to improve stability, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to understand and optimize data processing workflows.
- Implement scalable data processing solutions using PySpark, ensuring efficient handling of large datasets.
- Work with Spark data structures, with a foundational understanding of Pandas where relevant.
- Optionally, contribute to front-end improvements using Flask and Streamlit for user interface and dashboard development.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional experience in Python development.
- Practical experience with PySpark in production environments, especially handling large datasets.
- Strong proficiency in Python, particularly in building deployable applications.
- Solid knowledge of PySpark and Spark data structures, with a foundational understanding of data manipulation using Pandas.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working closely with Data Scientists and cross-functional teams.
- Basic understanding of data science workflows and the data processing lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Flask and Streamlit for front-end development is beneficial but not mandatory.
